Therapy Modalities
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in Boulder, CO
DBT teaches concrete, life-changing skills for managing big emotions, riding out crisis moments, and building relationships that actually feel good.
The Four DBT Skill Modules
Mindfulness
Learning to be present, observe your experience, and stop running on autopilot.
Distress Tolerance
Surviving crisis moments without making them worse. TIPP, ACCEPTS, self-soothing, and radical acceptance.
Emotion Regulation
Understanding your emotions, reducing vulnerability, and acting opposite to unhelpful urges.
Interpersonal Effectiveness
Asking for what you need, saying no, and maintaining self-respect — DEAR MAN, GIVE, and FAST.
Who DBT Helps
DBT was originally designed for borderline personality disorder (BPD), but research now supports its use for depression, anxiety, PTSD, eating disorders, self-harm, suicidality, substance use, and anger. DBT skills are especially helpful for anyone who feels everything intensely or recovers from emotions slowly.
We offer DBT-informed individual therapy and skills coaching rather than full DBT programs. See Ashton Mullee, Aki Mori, and Yajaira Gonzalez.
